Joining CNC machining with 3D printing
This was a collaborative project required Jessica Tweed and I to join two materials using 3D printing technology, as well as one other digital fabrication method (either CNC routing or laser cutting).
The research question for the brief was:
“How could you hone your usage of the specific strengths of each digital fabrication technology and combine them to amplify a design outcome”.
In addition to this research question, we were asked to reflect on the nature of each technology - 3D printing as additive, and CNC machining as subtractive - and what the worth and benefit each could provide through its usage and intersection.
